WELCOME TO AMLOU | EST. 2014 | DENMARK - MOROCCO
Ait Ouarain-also known as Beni Ouarain or Bedouine, dear child, as you know, has many names, as is the case here. The carpets are named after the strain or the area in which the carpets are made, and therefore rugs that seem alike can have different names due to different origins. Originally, the carpets are used to stay warm on and attaching the technique is therefore not so close. Today, the carpets are mostly used as floor pieces for personal furnishing of living room, and here in Denmark they have been given a warm welcome, as the minimalist design and color scheme appeals to many.
The carpets are kept in the natural color of the wool and the spun-colored furniture comes from henna, which contains a natural colourant; Lawsonia. The design is original and the carpets are adored with diamond-like symbols which, according to the Amazigh tradition, stand for the protection of the home or the private sphere.
